There are always great places to do your engagement session in Napa Valley…even in Winter. Christine and Bill wanted to have some engagement photos that included their yellow labrador retriever. We were all for that! Here are a variety of photos from their session. We are looking forward to their wedding later this year.

Churchill Manor is truly one of our favorite venues to photograph at! We are well acquainted with the property, having done so many weddings, elopements and events there. Be it summer, spring, winter or fall, morning, afternoon or evening~we’ve been there for an event. You can do a search on our blog to view our extensive work at Churchill Manor. Today’s post is about Lauren and Brian’s winter wedding, on a sunny winter January day, which is a little unusual for this time of year in Napa Valley. Both of the bride’s parents escorted her down the isle and gave her away. They had a printed wedding tree that each guest could stamp with a leaf (see photos below) and then sign their name on it, which I thought was a nice variation on the traditional “guest signing book”.

A few photos of a winter elopement at Churchill Manor. The bride wore a white ball gown wedding dress with a sweetheart neckline while the groom wore a gray tuxedo with a vest and bow tie. Flowers by Garaventa Florist, Napa.

What a pleasure it was to photograph this wedding! The bride and groom’s vision of their wedding day was thoughtfully contemplated, with great attention to detail, resulting in a perfectly executed destination wedding at Churchill Manor. The ring bearers carried a red cloth sign down the aisle with the words written “Here comes the Bride”. The bride was escorted by her father down the steps of Churchill Manor onto a red carpet, covered with white rose petals to her waiting groom. The fruit-draped wedding cake was from Sweetie Pies, Napa. The bride surprised her groom, as well as all of the guests, with singing waiters and also arranged for Marawa from Britain’s Got Talent to be at the reception to show off her extreme hula hoop performance!

Memories of Cover

This post has been delayed for a few months, partly due to a busy wedding season and partly because it was not easy to do. We lost our dear labrador retriever, Cover, back in August–just nine months after losing Chloe. I must say his affection for us was, in a word, unsurpassed. On paper, he was “Fowl Play’s Duck and Cover”, but to us, simply…Cover. He lived to be 14 years, 3 months, 10 days old. I chose some photos that span his lifetime, from a 7 week old puppy to the the great gentle old dog he became.

The last three photos were taken May 5, 2011, the day Cover turned 14. We will miss Cover and his big beautiful brown eyes but always remember him with great fondness.

Napa Photographer – A day at the beach

Our 37th wedding anniversary was on August 24th so we decided to pack a lunch and spend the day at the beach with Justin. There is nothing quite like the sound of the waves and the peaceful calm that comes with something as simple as taking a walk along the beach and observing the beauty that surrounds you. Since it was midweek, there were only a few people; we saw one sail boat and a couple of people riding horses along the shore.

We really need to do this more often…..

Napa Valley Wedding Photographer, Heather & Nick’s Wedding

Their wedding was held at a wonderful private residence surrounded by some of the most beautiful trees and countryside that is seen in nature. There are so many great details about this wedding that I loved . . . the ring pillow was made from the bride’s grandmother’s wedding dress, her garter was made with material from her mother’s wedding dress and the wedding cake was made by the groom’s mother. Before their departure for the evening, the guests threw rice as a send off. The bride and groom’s get-away car was a Packard, which added a great touch to the wedding. This is also the second time we have photographed a wedding for this family, the first time being the wedding of Heather’s sister Stephanie three years ago. Stephanie & Matthew’s wedding. It was so great to see them all again!

The bride chose the color “red” for her bouquet and shoes and as I reviewed the photos we took that day could see an array of colorful flowers at Churchill Manor with splashes of “red”, which complimented her chosen color.

There is nothing quite like the sweet sound of music from a harp and Charlotte’s talent makes her a perfect choice for your wedding day.
